This piece was a squared bowl that was made out of clay. The outside is glazed with black that has some white specks in it. The inside is glazed with a dark purple color. I named this piece “Hills” because that was the word I chose to put inside of my bowl. This is a ceramic bowl, so it was made out of clay. I used my hands a lot in this piece as well as a knife, and some small tools to smear the pot. I was inspired by The Black Panther for this piece so I used colors that represent his suit. I think I did a pretty good job on this piece. My goal as an artist is to make art that makes me happy and feel good, it doesn’t have to be the best art but I still want to continue improving my pieces. I think this piece is helping me reach my goals, because it, in my opinion, was the best thing I’ve made out of clay yet, and I really liked the glaze. I learned that making things with clay is really fun and I enjoy it. I didn’t really have a final product pictured in my mind at the beginning, so I was just going with the flow with this piece. I’m not sure if this will actually influence my future works, but I really, really liked the final product.
